Jim is recognized as one of the top Democratic mail consultants in the country. He has produced winning and creative political direct mail for over 20 years all across the country.
In 2008, and again in 2012, Jim captained the MCG team that did direct mail for President Barack Obama. MCG’s mail was used all across the country and specifically helped the President win the tough states of Virginia and Florida. After the 2008 election, Jim was called upon by the Obama transition team to head the confirmation team of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk.
In his career, Jim also produced direct mail for President Bill Clinton, and scores of high profile statewide races including Senator Evan Bayh, Senator Max Baucus, Senator Kent Conrad, Senator Byron Dorgan and Senator Jack Reed to name a few. He has worked on several successful Governors races in Indiana, New Mexico and other states.
Jim has also worked extensively with the DCCC producing winning direct mail in key districts throughout the country.
In 2012, Jim's successful clients included Senator Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Majority PAC which did mail in successful U.S. Senate races in Montana and North Dakota. In U.S. House races, Jim once again helped Congressman Jim Matheson win in Utah, helped elect new comers Scott Peters in California, and Kyrsten Sinema in Arizona, in addition to helping existing clients Congressman Steny Hoyer, Congressman Steve Israel, Congressman Ron Barber, Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, Congressman Tim Walz and he worked on successful races for House Majority PAC.
New York City Public Advocate Bill deBlasio headlines the local clients Jim has produced winning direct mail for, and he’s worked on several successful mayoral races across the country.
Jim is a frequent lecturer about the art of direct mail.
Jim served two stints on the Hill as Chief of Staff to Congressman Peter Hoagland from Nebraska, and Senator Max Baucus from Montana.
Jim hails from Omaha, Nebraska, has a political science degree from the University of Nebraska and a law degree from Creighton University.
