Tyra Banks
Tyra joined MCG at the height of the 2009 campaign cycle. Previously a Staff Assistant for Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, she began her career in Washington working for Campaign for America’s Future.
Tyra is the 2009 recipient of the Ambition Award from WeLead, a leadership fellowship at the Women in Politics Institute at American University and a proud graduate of the Midwest Academy Organizer Training Program. She was also recently awarded a fellowship by the Center for Progressive Leadership to continue training and research as a progressive activist.
A serial campaign volunteer, Tyra gained field experience with President Barack Obama’s Campaign for Change, Donna Edwards for Congress, Creigh Deeds’ campaign for Governor of Virginia and several state elections.
Before moving to Washington, DC, she lived in Louisiana where she worked as a disaster relief volunteer for America Speaks and Second Harvest Food Bank during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
