Sheheen Garners Democratic Nod in South Carolina
MCG congratulates State Senator Vincent Sheheen on clinching the Democratic nomination for governor in South Carolina in a landslide victory on Tuesday night.
Vincent earned 58% of the vote on Election Day, marking a 41-point increase from polling conducted in March, which showed him trailing by double digits. As a result of breaking 50%, Vincent bypasses a runoff election and moves directly to the general election in November.
Vincent’s positive messaging of bringing good-paying jobs to South Carolina and improving the state’s public education system resonated with voters, moving both undecideds and supporters of his opponents into the Sheheen column.
MCG Senior Vice President Dylan Sumner and Account Executive Ben King are proud members of Team Sheheen and are preparing for a very competitive general election – and a great opportunity for the first Democrat to be elected to the governorship since 1998.
