Dylan Sumner
Dylan Sumner has an outstanding track record of electing Democrats at the national, state and local levels with award-winning, high-impact direct mail. He's a leading strategist on comparative communications and an expert on absentee communication. Dylan has over 15 years of experience in campaign politics, having worked on more than 200 campaigns.
Dylan served as District Manager and Press Secretary for Congressman Pete Peterson. For nearly a decade, he served as Senior Field Director and Political Director for the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (now Florida Justice Association).
As the mail strategist for the Florida Democratic Party in 2006, Dylan developed the direct mail effort that helped elect a Democrat to a statewide Cabinet post for the first time in nearly a decade. His program helped deliver the largest net gain for House Democrats since 1976 and helped reclaim two congressional seats previously held by Republicans. He also produced direct mail that helped elect three Democrats to the Florida Senate.
In 2008, Dylan crafted the mail program to help the Georgia Democratic Party flip a House seat previously held by a Republican. He also directed mail programs that helped elect three Democrats to the Florida Senate and three to the Florida House, including the only Democrat to win in a legislative seat that previously elected a Republican.
Dylan partnered with Jim Crounse and Alan Moore to create and direct the persuasion mail programs in Virginia and Florida for President Barack Obama's Campaign for Change. Obama won both states: becoming the first Democrat to carry Virginia since 1964 and the first to gain more than 50% in Florida since 1976.
