MCG Congratulates Wisconsin's newest Democratic State Senators
MCG congratulates Wisconsin’s two newest Democratic state senators, Jessica King and Jennifer Shilling, for their historic victories in last night’s recall elections. We were proud to be part of the independent expenditure team, led by We Are Wisconsin, that included the NAACP, The Sierra Club, League of Conservation Voters, Citizen Action and many others. The team helped deliver wins for King and Shilling and began to beat back Scott Walker’s attack on middle-class families.
In Senate District 18, former Oshkosh Deputy Mayor and small businesswoman Jessica King defeated incumbent Randy Hopper in a seat held by Republicans since 1936.
MCG’s mail helped pave the way to a King victory by highlighting Hopper’s anti-middle class record on taxes, health care and education.

In Senate District 32, State Representative Jennifer Shilling unseated 14-year incumbent Dan Kapanke. Kapanke had survived multiple challenges, even winning as a Republican in a district that President Obama won 59-40 in 2008.
MCG’s mail delivered the message that Kapanke had grown too close to Walker and needed to be replaced.
