Sinkfield “Steamrolls” to Georgia Runoff Win
MCG congratulates Georganna Sinkfield on her overwhelming 24-point win in the Democratic runoff for Georgia Secretary of State. Even more impressive was her 39-point swing over her vote in the primary.
Sinkfield has been fighting for Georgians for nearly 30 years, and her track record of trusted, experienced, dedicated leadership won her 62%-38% victory on Tuesday. She now faces newly-appointed GOP Secretary of State Brian Kemp in November.
MCG Senior Vice President Dylan Sumner and Account Executive Ben King led the team that continued the firm’s winning ways in Georgia. Dylan’s strategic mail plans helped take a House seat from the Republicans in 2008, elect Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed in 2009, and earn overwhelming primary victories for Senator Vincent Fort and Representative Rashad Taylor earlier this year.

Bernero Wins in Michigan
MCG congratulates Virg Bernero, the United Auto Workers union, and working men and women across Michigan. MCG is proud to have been a part of the UAW communication team that helped Virg Benero win a decisive come-from-behind 59%-41% victory in Michigan’s gubernatorial primary.
Bernero is a straight-talking leader who holds politicians, the media and corporations accountable. New UAW President Bob King deserves a tremendous amount of credit for believing in Bernero and making his victory possible.

MCG 3 for 3 in Georgia
MCG congratulates Georganna Sinkfield, Vincent Fort and Rashad Taylor on their impressive wins Tuesday night in Georgia’s Democratic primaries.
Senator Fort won a commanding 68% of the vote against a well-financed rival for the Democratic nod in Georgia’s 39th Senate District. Since no Republican has qualified to run against him, this “battle-tested Democrat who’s challenged the status quo” will continue to fight for the people of East Point and Atlanta.
Representative Rashad Taylor took 56% of the vote to defeat his primary opponent who had once held the 55th House District seat in urban Atlanta. Taylor also has no GOP opposition in the fall.
Representative Georganna Sinkfield beat three other candidates in a hard-fought campaign to qualify for the Democratic runoff election for Secretary of State on August 10th.
MCG Senior Vice President Dylan Sumner and Account Executive Ben King led the team that added to the firm’s record of success in Georgia. Dylan’s strategic mail plans helped take a House seat from the Republicans in 2008, and helped to elect Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed in 2009.

Elliott Takes Nomination in Arkansas
MCG congratulates Joyce Elliott on her victory to secure the Democratic nomination to represent Arkansas’s 2nd Congressional District.
Elliott capped her hard-fought primary and runoff campaigns against Arkansas House Speaker Robbie Wills with a commanding 53% win in Tuesday’s Democratic runoff.
She will now face Tim Griffin, Karl Rove’s “right-hand man,” in the race to succeed retiring Representative Vic Snyder.
Elliott has devoted her life to public service, first as a schoolteacher for 31 years and now as the Democratic Majority Leader in the Arkansas Senate. Her focus on creating good jobs and making Arkansas’s pre-K education programs the best in the nation made her one of the “Top Ten Arkansas Legislators” more than once.
MCG Partner Jim Crounse and Senior Vice President Alan Moore led the team that designed and executed high-quality direct mail in the five-month primary and runoff campaigns.

Josephs Wins Primary in Pennsylvania
MCG congratulates State Representative Babette Josephs for her impressive Democratic primary win in Pennsylvania.
State Representative Babette Josephs handily won the party’s nomination for the Commonwealth’s 182nd District with 61% of the vote. Josephs, one of the highest-ranking women in the Pennsylvania House, will continue to defend the people and the Democratic values of Center City and parts of South Philadelphia.
MCG Partner Kevin Mack and Account Executive Jessica Evangelista are proud to be a part of Representative Josephs’s winning campaign. Read about her win in the Philadelphia Daily News.

Critz Wins!
MCG congratulates Mark Critz on his victory in the fierce two-month special election to represent Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District, the seat formerly held by Congressman Jack Murtha. MCG was proud to be part of the Critz Team along with Campaign Manager Mike Mikus, media consultants Steve Murphy and Mark Putnam, pollsters Jef Pollack and Joe Hickerson and the entire DCCC Team led by Jon Vogel and Joe Shafer.
Congressman-elect Critz earned 54% of the vote in this blue-collar district that polls and pundits ranked as a toss-up race.
Mark Critz never stopped focusing on local job creation. Mark’s passion for the district and localized message was more powerful than Republicans attempt to nationalize the election.
The Critz victory is a huge win for the DCCC and the Democratic Party. Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District is the only district in the country that voted for John Kerry in 2004, but John McCain in 2008. The victory marks the 6th consecutive congressional special election win for Democrats.
MCG Partner Kevin Mack and Vice President LeAnna Dinardo led the strategic team and created the hard-hitting direct mail for Congressman-elect Critz. With Vice President Shanon Henry, their team executed an aggressive direct mail effort for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, as well as member communications for the AFL-CIO, AFSCME and the Alliance for Retired Americans.

Jason Carter Wins Special Election
MCG congratulates Jason Carter on his decisive victory in a special election for the Georgia Senate Tuesday night. He will fill the seat that became vacant when former State Senator David Adelman left to become the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore.
Senator-Elect Carter received 65.6% percent of the vote, and won every precinct in a four-person race in Senate District 42, which covers portions of Atlanta and Decatur in DeKalb County.
A practicing attorney, Carter has defended Georgia’s most vulnerable citizens and protected voting rights. Jason serves on the boards of the DeKalb Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence, the Georgia Afterschool Investment Council and Georgia Appleseed, an organization lifting people out of poverty. Jason also co-founded Democrats Work to engage Democrats in visible, tangible projects in their communities.
MCG Partner Kevin Mack and Vice President LeAnna Dinardo led the team that provided an integrated plan for direct-mail and online communications.

MCG congratulates McKinley Price for his impressive 58%-42% win in the Newport News, Virginia mayor’s race.

Price, born and raised in Virginia’s fourth-largest city, is a pillar of the community and a former Citizen of the Year. A small business owner and dentist, he also served on the School Board and City Council before being elected mayor.
Alan Moore, Senior Vice President at MCG, led the team that created the effective mail plan for Mayor-elect Price.

MCG Congratulates Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher on His Primary Victory for U.S. Senate
MCG congratulates Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher on his strong 10-point victory in the hard-fought Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.
As the Democratic nominee against Bush appointee Rob Portman, Lt. Gov. Fisher will continue his fight for Ohio values and Ohio jobs, and show voters why the Dayton Daily Times said he “has come to intimately know the specific and general problems that businesses, community leaders and workers (and laid-off workers) are confronting” across the state.
Jim Crounse, Partner at MCG, led the team that delivered strategic, effective mail for Lt. Gov. Fisher’s campaign.

MCG Helps Bill de Blasio Win Democratic Runoff in Landslide Victory
Bill de Blasio defeated Mark Green on Tuesday in the Democratic runoff election to become the Democratic nominee for Public Advocate in New York City. In a landslide victory, Bill received 63% of the vote.
MCG is proud to have helped Bill go from a virtual unknown to an upset first-place primary finish, which led to a decisive victory in the runoff election last night.
The New York Times wrote:
"As he has done throughout the campaign, Mr. de Blasio promised he would fight for the needy and the working class and stand up 'when a mayor ignores the little people.'
"'This means supporting senior citizens and the working poor, supporting the homeless and the hungry,' Mr. de Blasio said. 'And more than anything, it means protecting our children from danger'…
"Mr. de Blasio, who came in first in the primary on Sept. 15, proved too formidable an opponent. He raised nearly $1.9 million, more than twice Mr. Green’s total, and collected the lion’s share of endorsements from prominent labor unions."
Congratulations to the de Blasio campaign for their commanding and hard-fought victory!
